INSPECTIONS AND EMISSIONS
Know More About Texas Vehicle Inspections
Many states in the United States authorize periodic vehicle safety and emission inspection. In the State of Texas, vehicles must pass an annual safety and emissions inspection. Passing these tests will allow you to legally drive on Texas state roads.
If you’re driving a Texas-registered vehicle, then you are required to get an annual inspection. However, some vehicles are required to have an emissions test too, aside from the safety inspection before receiving a vehicle inspection report.
Is Your Vehicle Required To Have The Emissions Test?
Emissions refer to the harmful gasses that your car or truck releases into the environment. A vehicle emissions test is used to test your vehicle’s emissions to ensure your car or truck isn’t smogging up the air quality and causing air pollution. The following criteria are required to take the emissions test:
- Gasoline-powered vehicles. Take note motorcycles and diesel-powered vehicles are exempt from emissions testing. However, these vehicles are still required to have safety inspection once a year.
- Vehicles aged 2 through 24 years old
- A vehicle must also take the test upon the expiration of the 2-year initial inspection sticker.
Keep in mind your state vehicle inspection and emissions test. Think about it this way, these tests are a good opportunity to discover and fix any car or truck problems you may not be aware of. This will save you from bigger auto problems that could lead to costly repair bills or an inoperable vehicle.
